Facilities

Location, location, location
Fry’s Spring Beach Club is close to UVA, downtown, 29 North, Interstate 64, and 250 west.  Private and nestled in the charming and historic Fry’s Spring neighborhood, FSBC offers city convenience in a rural setting.

Historic Ballroom
Music is carried from the stage across honey-blond wood and pine walls to happy feet on the dance floor or tapping feet in the booths that surround the historic Ballroom at Fry’s Spring Beach Club. Originally an outdoor dance pavilion in the late 1800′s, the room was doubled in size and enclosed in 1927.  Improvements to the room took place in 1949 as other renovations were underway in the Clubhouse.

Perfect for dances, performances and presentations, the Ballroom can hold up to 500 people.  For private functions and receptions, the room can seat up to 150 in its stationary booths with additional seating for up to 50 gained by making use of the large dance floor.

The Ballroom is perhaps most significant for its social and musical history when the likes of Glenn Miller’s Orchestra graced the stage back in the swing era.  More recent musical history includes performances by James McMurtry, Ingrid Michealson and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy to name a few.  And, it is also the charming and beloved room in which many happy occasions celebrating new beginnings and marking the passage of time continue to take place.

Garden Terrace Room & Bar
The Garden Terrace Room & Bar, circa 1949, is an intimate space with large windows, almost level with the property’s giant oak trees, that overlook the grounds and pools below.  The old-fashioned wooden bar is a wonderful place to gather before moving into the Garden Terrace Room to dine, dance or hold a business or neighborhood meeting.

Cafe and Lower Patio
The downstairs Cafe offers a variety of lunch and dinner items as well as summer treats for kids of all ages.  Members can eat inside the Cafe or outside on the patio.  Adult members might choose to wind down with a beer or glass of wine by the pool.  The Cafe is open during the summer season from Memorial Saturday – Labor Day Monday.  Take a break from the sun and play a video game or pin-ball in the Cafe with games provided by Apex Amusement.

The patio is also a great place for summer cookouts and outdoor ceremonies or gatherings.  Below the patio are terraced grounds, when combined with the patio, create the perfect dining space for evening receptions under the stars.
