Join us and Relax at the Pool
All FBSC members enjoy daily access to the club’s facilities, including three swimming pools, café, clubhouse, and tennis and sand volleyball courts, between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day. Member children are additionally eligible to participate in the FSBC swim team. Outside of the summer months, members are welcome to attend regular club social events and use the FSBC parking lot for home UVA football games.
FSBC offers two types of membership: Voting/“Sustaining” and Non-Voting. Information on these memberships, as well as categories of membership (individual, dual, and family) within each type and how to join, renew, and convert your membership can be found below.
Note that we offer discounts for seniors aged 65 and older (30%) and full-time students (25%).
Voting / “Sustaining” Membership
Voting members are important for the financial sustainment and leadership of the club. Individuals, couples, or families may become voting members for a cost of $1,000 per membership. This can be paid in lump sum upon joining/converting to a voting membership or in three annual installments of $333.33.
Benefits of a voting membership include:
Reduced annual dues and fees (if you anticipate being an FSBC member for 6+ years, being a voting member is the lower-cost option)
Priority rental and 20% discounts for club use
$100 worth of free guest passes (1st year only)
Voting rights in Fry’s Spring Beach Club, Inc.
Participation in the stewardship and historic preservation of FSBC as a city green space and community asset
Non-Voting Members pay a one-time initiation fee of $240/family membership, $210/dual membership, and $150/individual membership.
Individual: Any one adult over the age of 18.
Dual: Any two adults, or one adult and one child. These memberships are intended for couples (with no children), or a single parent and one child, in both cases living under one roof. Also includes two adults and infant(s) until the oldest child is aged 2 years.
Family: Any one or two parents (or step parents) and their children living under the same roof. These memberships may include dependents. Divorced or separated individuals not living under the same roof, and with separate families or dependents, should obtain separate memberships, which may be individual, dual or family, depending on the circumstances.
How to Join FSBC
Welcome! The first step toward becoming an FSBC member is to register online. There you may choose the appropriate membership type, per the details outlined above. You will have the option of paying for your full membership (including the initiation fee or voting membership fee and annual dues) there as well. You may also pay in installments, via checks made payable to “FSBC” (these may come directly from you or automatically from your bank).
New voting members opting to pay in installments must pay the voting member fee (either the full $1,000 or first installment of $333.33) immediately upon joining. New non-voting members must pay the initiation fee immediately upon joining. All new members must be paid in full by August 1, 2019. Your membership will be approved as soon as we receive your first payment and your names will be added to the list of members at the front gate.
New members who join mid-season (after July 1) are eligible for prorated annual dues (although not prorated initiation fees or voting member fees). Contact the club director for details.
New members that join for 2020 between August 1, 2019 and September 1, 2019 may take advantage of our End of Season Membership Special. These members may enjoy full membership privileges in August and September 2019 after paying the initiation fee/voting member fee. 2020 dues must be paid in full by June 1, 2020. Contact the Club Director for details.
How to Renew your FSBC Membership (for active and inactive members)
Welcome back! Returning members may renew their memberships online or via checks made payable to “FSBC.” Renewing online will provide the option of paying in full plus an additional 4.1% convenience charge. You may also send in payment(s) via checks made payable to “FSBC.” Here you may pay your annual dues in full or in installments. Per the Board of Director’s Policy, all returning membership dues must be paid in full by June 1, 2019. Voting members paying the voting member fee in installments must also pay this fee by June 1, 2019.
Please note that you will be not allowed admittance to the pool and grounds until your membership is paid in full. Under special circumstances, current and past members may request an extension for payments from the Board. To make such a request contact the Club Director or the President of the Board of Directors.
How to Move from a Non-voting to Voting membership
Thank you for considering this move. Voting members are crucial for financial sustainment and leadership of FSBC. In addition to supporting the club, voting members enjoy significantly lower annual dues. If you anticipate joining FSBC for 6+ years, it is financially wiser to join as a voting member.
In order to become a voting member you will need to pay either the $1,000 voting membership fee or the first installment of $333.33 along with your voting member annual dues by June 1, 2019.
If you opt to become a voting member mid-season, after you have already paid your non-voting member annual dues, you will need to pay the voting member fee/installment of the voting member fee immediately. You will then be eligible for a partial refund of the difference between your annual non-voting membership dues and annual voting membership dues, the amount depending on when you make the conversion.
Rates for 2019
Family Non-voting: $998
